A recent fatwa has been passed, demanding execution, against the editor of Afghan’s Women Rights magazine, Ali Mohaqiq Nasab, who has been charged for blasphemy and was sentenced two years imprisonment.
Nasab has been arrested and jailed for his articles questioning harsh punishments under Islamic laws, which included 100 lashes as punishment for adultery and stoning to death for conversion to another religion and articles on demanding women rights.
Member of the National Shiite Council of Ulema, Muhammed Aref Rahmani, said , ‘Sometimes the whole religion and the rules of the religion were attacked ... For instance, he says one woman should be equal to one man, as a witness in a case, which is completely against our religion.’
