A new set of rules are making it mandatory for Muslim women to show their ‘id-ka-chand’ (covered face), which is always guarded be the nikab.
In a move to identify that, it is a woman who is taking the driving test and not anyone else, the Driving Standards Agency has set forth a new requirement according to which the women driver has to unveil her face to female test examiners.
The necessary identification process is carried on in a private place with the examiner and an interpreter present for the occasion. The concerned authorities will then match the photo ID card with the women drivers to make sure that it doesn’t turn out to be a case of impersonation.

I have never understood the reasons why women of the Muslim culture put up with all the sexism they have dished to them day in and day out. Do the men not understand that without the women, THEY would not exist. The women have the power...they provide existance to all..men included. The women need to stand up for themselves and stop being victims. They are the only ones who can stop this oppression...they need to stop following these archaic laws that men have dumped on them for ages. They need to stop wearing the dumpy clothing, the headcoverings, etc. What is wrong with hair? What is wrong with being comfortable with clothing? Bottom line...MEN are not the be-all and end-all of the world and it is up to women to let them know this!!!
u posted a very stupid comment in which you made a point and later on went against it,
lady, if thats poticially correct, u dont understand, really do u?
thats whats wrong with you people, all you guys think is what you do is right, what you say is right, a muslim women wants to cover her self, whats ur problem!?, if a girl wants to show off her skin why shouldnt she be allowed to cover it?
why would men make such rules and abide with them for centuries which deters the social network between the two sexes? men of all the creatures in the world, wouldnt make such a law
Men as we know, would make rules very much opposite, this is just an article which says about something which is NOT against islamic law.
If you have and follow a law, we also follow a law, try to respect it, and at least its better then yours,
our laws and values do not change after every half a decade
im a teenage muslim girl wearing almost the entire islamic clothing, (inshallah) i also want to wear the nikab.it is not the men that make the rules it is our creator, allah.Women in islam are not oppressed(for those of you who think we are) we are actually liberated.atlaest i no i can go out with out having to worry about getting teased , or followed by men.why do u think that out of every 7 people that revert to islam 6 of them are women ??? becoz they get the freedom they never really had.being modest does not mean ur being oppressed
You know non muslims should understand that for a man to make a rule it is bound to change but have you ever heard that the words of Quran has been changed before? All the same ISLAM is ISLAM and we respect and obey the laws of it because we are being ordained from above. Dress any how if you want (but imagine dressed in a certain attire) and ask yourself this question ”WHO AM I DRESSING FOR?” Our answers are mostly (be honest to yourself) to attract male attention but in ISLAM you dress for the Almighty above to reward no one but YOU. And if look very critically we realise that the attires men wear covers almost all parts of their bodies.Eg a man may wear a long sleeved shirt and a pair of trousers to a dinner but a lady wears anything from sleeveless to spaghetti top. So be very careful on the comments you make about ISLAMIC WOMEN’S DRESSING ok?
Madihah,
May I ask you, where is the faith when it depends on someone’s clothes ?
As-salaamu ’alaikum,
I was wondering why Muslimat who choose to donn an-niqab and are finding some cultural opposition in their state or country of domicile don’t just donn an-niqab the majority of the time but alternate with al-hijab when necessary. That way they would not loose their hasanah, it seems reasonable to me... what is the problem there?
I think that if you choose to live a country then you are also choosing to live by that countries laws. So as far as England, the rulers have a right to say uncover your faces. Just like Saudia Arabia has a right to say no women drivers. If you don’t like it you can try to change it or get out or simply just accept it. About the choice of a muslim woman covering her face, yes every woman has the right to choose to dress or cover what ever she wants if its within the laws. done. But...............I have to say that the man by Islam also has the responsibilty to lower his gaze and not to try to pick up anything with two legs. So far with what Ive seen in Yemen its only the women doing their part, but the men are trying to get every womens attention on the streets even if she is not showing a single inch of skin. You can not even go to the local supermarket without being yelled at, or followed by some guy even when you are wearing gloves and covering your face. All men know this in Yemen, so most families do not let their women out for errands without a man to protect them. So you see, cover if you want, but it does not change the world. (or men)
I have read Lena’s comments and would like to enlighten her that there is a difference in what Islam teaches and what the West projects as Islamic teachings. Purdah or veil is for women not to tantalize men and the same is for men to respect women and not look at them. If you say that men try to size up anything on two legs then I would like to point out that why are two legs exposed in the first place. Here the wrongs are being committed by both and not only the man. Hence it is not a one sided concept which Islam preaches. So the orthodox belief that women are the suppressed ones in Islam goes out of the window with this clarification, I hope !
in countries where woman are not covered, men are far less interested in trying to ”pick up anything on 2 legs”. The more they cover up, the more mystery they create, the more they will be challenged by men. Why any woman would willingly allow herself to be made a slave is beyond me.
I completely agree with you Fean. Two legs are exposed because realistically it is going to be hot in the summer wearing jeans. I do not wear skirts simply to provoke men, I wear them because I am more comfortable in them. I do not feel threatened by the men around me. Men are still looking at veiled women, and whether or not they feel protected from that gaze due to a black cloth is entirely up to the female. I doubt that a man would rape a woman solely based on the fact she is uncovered. Thus, the issue of rape does not have as much to do with religion and the controversy of veiling as does human perversion. I beleive that when women have limited rights in their society, it becomes convenient for men to be able to take advantage of this to fullfill their sinfull desires.
I like your opinion about Test-driving rules unveil the Muslim woman and would be agree with what happened in a next... Regards
