A Muslim girl crowned in a beauty pageant is enough to create a rustle in the Muslim community. That is exactly what happened when gorgeous Hammasa Kohistani was crowned Miss England. The moment was enough in itself to hit both feminism and Islam. I find it rather nonsensical on the part of Mr. Abul Hamid to declare Hammasa as apostate.
I think the ‘circle of Islam’ has a very small radius. ‘Hijab’ (veil) is there to protect the women from an outsider’s gaze, but it is no wrong to say that even in the Muslim world, women are judged by their looks.
