In the recent days, after the hype of the Miss Universe 2006 pageant, it is the time for Miss Indonesia Universe candidate to defend herself.



A militant group, Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), has accused Nadine Chandrawinata of crossing every limits of decency and bringing shame upon Islam by being almost semi-naked in the swimsuit contest.



A statement given by FPI attorney says that the militant organization has already filed a police report against Nadine because of her swimsuit act as well for her participation in the beauty pageant.



Nadine, however, did not win the Miss Universe crown but she definitely won the crown as the controversial beauty queen of Indonesia. Indonesian media has just grabbed this excellent opportunity of penning down anything for as well as against Nadine.



Almost 85 percent of Indonesian populations are Muslims and Islam followers and according to the FPI, the Indonesian beauty walking down in the two-piece suit is ‘insulting for Indonesian dignity and women’.



FPI has also filed police case against four other persons who were said to have sponsored and backed up Nadine for the Miss Universe 2006.



Despite the fact that the Indonesian government officially follows and preaches a secular philosophy, in reality it is the hard-hitting religious groups who have more say in all these matters.
