Everyday, this 35-year-old woman attends the court in the hope that her husband will turn up for the courts proceedings, but her hope remains just a blurred hope and never turns into reality. Umm Muhammad spends 25 years of her life with a man who hardly cared for her feelings and is tortured physically as well as mentally every single day.
Umm’s husband never was a good man, though she tried to take care of every demand that he made. She gave him four children, but what did she get in return, kicked out of her own house, and disowned from her hard-earned property.
That selfish man married another wife and threw Umm and her children out of the house. Now, he is shying away from the court hearings, which is creating a problem for Umm as the case keeps on getting postponed due to which she is neither getting a divorce nor can marry another man.
How hypocrite is the Muslim society. On one hand they say, the Quran empowers women with equal rights, but why then it is woman, who always is subjugated to all the discomforts in life, where as the man is free to have a harem?
There are many other women like Umm who are waiting for their divorce for more than 30 years, but who is going to give them justice...King Abdullah, the court, the society?

The one who is making this comment needs to know that it your media in Arab and Gulf that is spreading this news...and I personally have met many women who have gone through halala, that is so cheap...just to get back to the first husband she has to sleep for one night with another man....how do you counter that....and before accusing anyone please get the statisics right.
I wish people would first research what it is that they are talking about before they come to conclusions. The quran does give women many rights. This story is unfortunate indeed but has nothing to do with the quran. If you read about multiple wifes in the quran you will see that it is much more involved than just taking a lot of wifes, there is a great responsibility involved and a severe punishment by allah if the husband dosent respect and care for all of his wifes equally. Just like any religion there are the extremests and a whole nation should not be judged because of the actions of a few.
