Kamaruddin Ambok, 52, a Malaysian Muslim Senator, divorced his wife on phone by sending her a SMS and a voicemail. Mahani Hussain, the wife was not even aware of his intentions of this phone thing.



Islamic court has levied a fine of 550 ringgit ($147) on the senator for his act. He could have easily gone to the court and followed a systematic process that is being laid down for divorce procedures.



If proper procedure is not followed the offender will be fined up to, 1000 ringgit and even 6 months of jail imprisonment.



As per the Islamic law in Malaysia, a man is able to divorce his wife by saying ‘Talaq’. But this should be allowed.

How can it force the Muslim woman treating them like some inferior objects?



Mohamad Yusof Sulaiman, the prosecuting officer of the Islamic court said that the seeing the gravity of the case the punishment should be even more tough.
