In the beautiful mountainous region of East Sudan, the women communities have come out of their shell and exploring newer things in life. All the hard work of WFP-organized literacy programme has paid off finally.
With just the face uncovered, the Sudanese women all covered from head to toe in their Sudanese blue toub dress, are now very much confident about their own identity and all buckled up to work for the development of their families and community.
Defying the traditional ideology of education being meant solely for the fairer sex they are increasingly getting themselves enrolled in educational programs.
To help out those women living in east Sudan, WFP has come up with some program which will groom these women’s with some skills that will in turn help them in adding up to their family income.
They are also being given lesson in cooking, sewing, carpet making and many such related works. In order to keep the flow of the women folk to the classes on a regular basis WFP has also come up with the idea of incentive: they provide the women’s with a monthly food ration and these of course lures them to be very much regular.
