After a 44 year old ban on Kuwaiti women’s participation in the parliamentary elections, five women filed their nominations as prospective candidates for the upcoming elections.
These are the first lucky females who got this excellent opportunity. One of them, well-known women rights activists, Rola Dashti said that this was indeed the beginning of a new era for the all the women of Kuwait who can now get involved in the public affairs.

Journalist Aisha al-Rasheed, another registered candidate said that men had enough of opportunities and now it is a call for all the Kuwaiti women to get actively involved in the nation politics.
Since the day the Parliament was established in the year 1962, women never had the chance of even gaining entry for the election bids, the historic decision made at the assembly indeed marks a turning point.
