Finally, to end the prohibition implemented since 1979, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad decreed to all the head of sports organization that women be allowed to enter sports stadiums. The Islamic law have been implemented right after the 1979 revolution as it was considered inappropriate for women to be in crowds where offensive languages and impolite behavior were expected and also where men in shorts were to be seen.



So to end this age old oppression President Ahmadinejad was heard telling :

The best stands should be allocated to women and families in the stadiums in which national and important matches are being held. The presence of women and families in public places promotes chastity.




So finally they move one step closer to being equal to their female counterparts elsewhere.
