According to the report submitted by the Iranian Ministry of Welfare and Social Security (MWSS), there are around one million and 400 thousand women who are bread winners, of which half of them do not have any regular paid work or source of income.
Deputy Minister for planning affairs, Mohammad Reza Vaez- Mahdavi, informed INSA that the ministry has plans to provide insurance to 700,000 woman breadwinners. He further added that though these women are currently provided social aid by the country’s main charity organizations, the State Welfare Organization and Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, yet they need much more assistance.
