In a recently held Indo-Pak Punjab Psychiatric Society, a group of Pakistani psychiatrists said that women in the rural areas of Pakistan are developing an inferiority complex due to the Indian TV soaps depicting ‘glam dolls’ on the small screen with a very individual and dominating nature.
There is no doubt that women in the urban places of Pakistan are no less self-confident like the ones in India; however, when it comes to those living in the backward regions, the scenario is quite different.
It is human tendency that when you watch someone glamorous and quite content with life, you suddenly develop an urge to be one of him or her and ultimately you end up with frustration if nothing materializes out of the effort.
It is the case with many young Pakistani girls. They have suddenly started developing a kind of feeling, which is suffocating them: they are caught up in such a clueless emotional mess that it is leading them merely to an unavoidable phase of depression.

Its quite true.
I am sure they have many reasons which go to the root of what their real life problems are to be depressed other than these serials. The serials must be only bringing their feelings out some what.
well i would say....its the feeling that matters the most and not whether its a silly, stupid article.......hah i dont think so that man like you can anyway relate to depression that muslim women suffer in the male dominated society...
I have not seen the show, but the writer of the original article stated that the women on the screen are quote ”aggressive and dominant”.
Just what is meant by that comment? the writer has no right to lable the women that way unless they are actually beating and bossing their husbands around!
being a woman in a civilized community doesn make her agressive and dominant. just an FYI.
there should be no blame on the tv show if the country girls get mad after watching it. the east is growing up, the world is changing and its gonna take some time for some regions and backward people to catch up.
