Sohela Ansari and Aftab, a Muslim couple of India who have been happily married for 11 long years and parents of three children’s have been ordered to divorce by the Islamic leaders when they got to know that Aftab had muttered the word Talaq thrice during his sleep.



The local Islamic Leaders said that since the words uttered by Aftab falls under the ‘Triple Talaq’ rule laid down by the Islamic law, they have to separate and maintain a 100 days of distance from one another.



This is sheer nonsense and nothing else. How can one take the sleep talk as something real? Sohela even has to get married to man and stay with him for one night before she gets to see her first husband. This is just like the ‘Halala’ process that they are ordered to observe.



Whereas, the clerics and scholars from Lucknow altogether defies this order and said that, uttering triple talaq when a man is fast asleep has no ‘religious sanctity’.
