The issue of Islamic dress code has always been a controversial matter. Verse 33:59 of the Quran states that the women should draw over themselves their ‘jilbab’(outer garment) when in public. This will be more conducive to their being recognized as decent women, and thus, not harassed. The purpose of wearing a veil is to guard modesty. But I find it really very surprising that women are judged on the basis of their purity and looks while men aren’t.
