An attack upon one of the women workers in the men’s prison in Worcester has kicked off a legal dispute between the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) and the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) in South Africa.
Faryouz Ahmed, the Muslim women was asked to remove her veil, which was made mandatory after the Uniform Regulations made last year in April. Ahmed due to her religious faith refused to do so.
Now this dispute is no longer confined just to that prison women, but MJC says that it is an outright attack on the Muslim society. They also said that this is an insult for all the members of the Muslim society. MJC president insists that the matter will be taken to the labour court.
