Who today is not aware of the daily sufferings that the Muslim women have to go through? However, the most pertinent point is that of the negative image that people worldwide have about the Muslim women.

Western Feminists in their own way are trying to help the Muslim women. Although, Asifa Quraishi the leading Muslim scholar in a conference titled ‘Western Advocacy for Muslim Women: It’s Not Just the Thought That Counts‘ said that even if the feminist group are trying to work for those women there is a high risk that their guidance might have negative impact.

The whole event was organized by the Muslim Students Awareness Network and Islamic Society of Stanford University with an aim to create awareness among the women about their rights and particularly in reaction to the incident in which ‘a Muslim woman was punished to be raped so that her family honor is retained’.

Quereshi, also a learned professor made a speech in which she focused on the work done by the Western feminist by saying that, the strategies that they use often blocks the progress of the Muslim women rather than guiding them in a systematic manner.

In order to help the women community in an effective manner, first they should be more open-minded, humble and understand the laws and culture of the Islam community.
