Rimla Akhtar, British Muslim Women Football Captain

If we all thought that there is no enthusiasm among the Muslim women when it comes to activities like sports we are very well mistaken.

The positive spirit and the dedication shown by Chairperson, Rimla Akhtar of Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation proves us wrong.

Earlier Rimla was the captain of British Muslim Women’s futsal team but now she heads the MWSF and feels that nothing can stop the involvement of Muslim women in this kind of activities.

Rimla participated in the Iran games last year along with her team, they lost all the matches. She thought that being British women they will outnumber the other teams but when she went there and witnessed the kind of spirit that existed in the community she got her answer.

Her organization is now working hard to unite all the Muslim women and engage them in sports and other related activities. They aim to make a better future for all the British Muslim women.

Rimla said:

We’ve just had two successful taster sessions in London and Birmingham with lots of girls attending and enjoying themselves. These are the women and girls who we believe will be making a difference to the image of British Muslim women in sport.
