If it is the resurrection of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, in the ever-controversial region of Indian occupied Kashmir it is the rule of the Duhktaran-e-Millat, who call themselves the daughters of Islamic society, prevails.
With 500 active members in this disputed group, the daughters operate in a very dictatorial style. We would rather call them a strategically developed unit who can be coined as a ‘women’s only Taliban party’ who acts as the watchdogs for the Kashmiri women.
Forget the fashion police in Tehran, the members of the Dukhtaran-e-Millat are ready to pounce upon any woman who offends the religious code and try to degrade the teachings of Allah.
The group is accused to have applied various tactics to curb down the influence of western lifestyle among the Kashmiri women and have been seen burning down cards on Valentines Day and raiding beauty salons and bashing up the unveiled women.
It seems that an emerging Taliban trend is all set to take the life of Kashmiri women by storm in the near future.
