For once, let me get put forth the message conveyed by a young Pakistani women, who is doing her intern with ‘The Globalist’.

Sukaina Taqi, born and brought up in Pakistan has pointed out a very strong issue regarding the growing measures taken by the authorities of UK and US in issuing student visas to Muslim men from across the world and particularly from the Middle East Nations and Pakistan.

During her childhood days, her parents used to restrict her movement saying that girls are not supposed to do so, while her other male friends were free to stay out and have fun late at nights. From having fun in the beach, to driving out without any driver, the boys were given absolute freedom.

For Sukaina and her girl friends, only the home premises were made available to have fun. Therefore, most of her friends accepted the rule of the society. However, when it came to education Sukaina was lucky enough to come out of Pakistan to the West for her higher studies, where as many of her friends had to stay back, giving in to the orders of their conservative parents.

However, by a twist of fate, it is the young Muslim men who are having to compromise with their dreams, as, with the growing cases of terrorism, Muslim men are hardly given permissions by the authorities for obtaining student visas and this has ultimately left them no choice but stay back at their native place.

At last for good or worse, there is an emerging trend of ‘role reversal’ taking place. If it becomes stronger, it will be best that patriarchal hierarchy is overthrown and in its place, gender equality should become more powerful.
