Earlier, it was a custom prevalent in the Arab society that Arab women should marry the man chosen by their family elders. However, things are gradually changing in the marriage scene in the contemporary world.
The present generation Arab women are enjoying more freedom in case of choosing their better half. The parents are slightly softening their hold on their daughter’s decision to tie their knot.
A survey by the University of Haifa reveals that the contemporary Israeli families are taking up a more liberal attitude towards their girls’ marriages.
Arranged marriages among the young Arab women have almost disappeared from the scene with less parental involvement.
