A young Muslim couple in U.S has come up with a very practical and unique way of agreement so that in case anything goes wrong in their relationship the wife can immediately go ahead with her divorce procedures.
According to a law inherited in the ancient Muslim tradition, a woman can assert her right by claiming for ‘Mahr’ - which means a handsome amount of money that is handed over to the woman by her man.
29-year-old Zaynab Abdul-Razacq hails from Decatur, Ga in U.S. She and her husband is married for three years now and the best part of their marriage is an agreement that they made, wherein her husband has assured her in a written statement that at any given point of time if her husband abuses her, Razaq can terminate their marriage and divorce him at once.
Many well-wishers and religious leaders who advocate women rights said that the step taken by both Razaq and her husband is in accordance with the Islamic law, despite many critics claiming that they are influenced by the West.
