Silvy, was 19 years old when she was married happily and life seemed to be a pleasure ride for both she and her husband: but all of a sudden everything went hay wire when someone threw acid on her face due to which now she keeps herself in a self made cage ashamed of facing the outside world.



Silvy is hiding away even from her family coz she doesn’t want them to feel embarrassed because of her. When asked by the Jakarta post in a written interview she refused to reveal the name of the attackers.



Presently undergoing treatment at the Dr. Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya, there will be a team of 25 doctors who will be carrying out her surgery.



As said by the head of the surgery team, Syaifuddin Noer: “The wounds cover her entire face and make it necessary to perform face off surgery, using the free-flap system. This is the first time it has been performed in Indonesia.’



“The peeling off process has to be done carefully, considering that the skin tissue, nerve systems and veins under the skin are very fragile.’



“The final phase will be to attach the new skin to her face.’



This is also the first time for the medical staff to carry out such a challenging case and will take around 10 hours to complete the surgery.
