No, I am not advocating that they should defy their religion and wear flimsy garments, but what about the health hazards. Neither is anyone saying that they should start wearing short, two-piece clothes like the women of the western countries.
However, there is a piece of rather ‘bold and shocking’ news for the Muslim men. Tired of restricting their life to domestic abuse, honor killings and gender discrimination, Muslim women are reportedly rumored to be preparing for a sudden outburst in the form of ‘Bikini Revolution’.
According to EZINEARTICLES report, the online traders are witnessing a growing flow of orders for bikinis’ from the women customers of the Muslim community in almost all the Muslim nations worldwide.
A woman who wants to keep her identity under wrap said during an interview:
The men want to hide our beauty in the closet and the clerics want us to take responsibility for the design of the human body, but, the truth is, we didn’t have anything to do with it. Our job is just to live with the design. In fact, to love it and be proud of it as the way Allah made us.
She also said that she is waiting for that moment when she will get to wear her tiny colorful bikini set that she has recently bought: “I can’t wait to put it on. If I don’t get stoned first, I’m going swimming, too.”
Well, this is certainly going to be an event of its own kind: and if the rumor turns out to be true, the world will be seeing a new face of the ‘women in black’ transformed into a ‘woman in bikini’.

Its intresting, during my university time I saw many muslim girls who wear veil with their own choice and no body has forced them to wear it. As much as i know during hot days(I lived in 35C+)temprature and I saw men also covering their heads and faces to protect their skins from sun and hot winds. This idea only suits to those woman who lived in Air conditioners and do not live in such hot areas. Infact the woman who fear Allah will not show her beauty except those whome she is permited. And those girls who only are muslim by their name will wear only two clothes and it does not matter for them and it does not matter for God if they do not obey HIM. Life is very short and such women will soon see where there are heading. The woman I interviewed regarding veiling has entirely different openion. Even western women commented that they feel comfortable with veiling(Fully covered body). The person who never tried how can he/she comment on such issue. Even all woman of world disobey Allah(God) order it will not do any harm to His Kingdom and soon they will taste what they have done here.Inshallah righteous women will never do things like this.God bless such woman.
MY God, the true God, would never punish a woman for the clothes they wear. Women have the same rights as men, they are just as smart, just as strong, and just as capable. Who are you to judge others, when you are nothing more than another lowly human being. Good for these women, who see that they can dress however they want. Concerning dress, what rights do women have in Islam?
I have interests in many religions because of such topics; i see them as being curious propositions but very thought-provoking in mind of the religious ideology. Controversy that lingers in such religions is part-due to a consequence of an individual’s speculation upon scripture. Isn’t it so? that what is written is written for a purpose and cannot be changed or understood differently? I think the subject matter of this discussion is important and needs to be met with consideration, but i wonder about the implication this makes on the seriousness of Islam as a whole, and whether or not this is one of those seemingly insignificant things that, once changed, will make a whole lot of difference - possibly encouraging others to make similar propositions themselves?
I have seen Kashmiri muslim females wearing nothing, absolutely nothing under the burqa. That, I felt was their reply to the mullas/maulvis. Recently, I saw designers burqa clad females which show all shape and sticks to the body. I also saw a female wearing burqa upto the waist and portion of hip-showing jeans beneath it. I think, the world is changing.

I’d to also add that Muslim women do buy bikinis, probably just as much as any other woman. However it does not mean that we are wearing them in public. Covering is a protection for us and as a woman who covers in public, it has absoulutely nothing to do with my husband, father or any other male in my life forcing me to do so.

This is a positive sign. While conservatives may hold to old traditions too often in many cultures we have seen them perverted. Inequality and abuse of women is not of Allah. If a woman chooses to wear a veil and her modesty dictates this then let her do so, but let it not be a prison for those women or a brand of enslavement.
As much as i agree wid u, i must add that those who ENFORCE hijab have this concept that it is the LAW and any 1 violating it shud be punished (like public nudity is an offence).
Anyways, what i accept, and is the social norm in my part of the world, is that women should wear MODEST clothes, but not necessarily a burqa. they may wear beautifully colored and patterned clothes, as long as they do not show off her body parts

There’s no restriction for a muslim men/women for ’what clothes they wear’. The role is to cover your ”AURAT” both muslim men and women.

for women, their aurat is the whole body except a face and their hands(palm)

Both men and women are required to dress and conduct themselves in a manner that befits their dignity and is not the cause of temptation for others. Hair is considered part of a woman’s physical attractiveness. Therefore, covering of hair for the woman is considered essential to modesty of her attire, even in the Bible. This is the reason that nuns and orthodox Jewish women also cover their hair.
It is the outer dress of Muslim women which includes the head covering that is usually referred to as hijab. Hijab is not merely a covering dress, but more importantly, it is behavior, manners, speech and appearance in public. The headscarf is an outer manifestation of an inner commitment to worshipping Allah – it symbolizes a commitment to piety. Self or inner morality is what gives meaning to the external scarf.

In the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars, a woman should cover everything except her face and hands. The face veil however, is worn by some Muslim women, who either consider it a requirement, or wish to adhere to a higher level of modesty.

No longer will she be judged on her hair style, her body shape, or other materialistic characteristics. She will be treated more equally and she will be able to share her mind, rather than the size of her breasts. It keeps a woman’s self worth and makes her special. It in fact frees her from the judgement of others and forces people to know her for who she really is. Even Mary, Jesus’ mother, is depicted as veiled. Christianity has long promoted veiling and it’s just in these modern times that it has been discarded (which is sad because man is saying he’s better than god and knows better than god. He is essentially discarding the word of god...very sad). Open your eyes to the truth, read more about Islam on the internet, and reference many sources before forming a judgement. Don’t be ignorant, be smart and learn the facts.

Sorry, but I think that you’re a total idiot. Muslim women have been wearing head scarves for thousands of years now, ”health complications” are never an issue and never have been. I am many of muslim women who decide to not wear a hear scarf & it is not seen as a sin to not wear one, in fact not many muslims in the states even wear scarves at all. And the people here in this blog are making it see like muslim women are ”stripped” of their rights because they chose to cover themselves up to remain loyal to allah (swt). Well as you have a arabic sounding name, I am going to make a HUGE assumption here, and say that you are a muslim, as this is the only religion allowed to be practiced in the arab world. So, that said, YOU tell me, do muslims NOT amputate their females? I know for a fact that jews circumcise all their newborn males, and many other christians also practise this form of barbarism which they confuse with a hygenic requirement which it is NOT, therefore it is not related to just islam. I do not ’worship’ CNN, BBC, Youtube etc. but it is quite common knowledge that this is practised in many muslim societies, do you deny it?
I have watched documentaries where young girls are taken away to their muslim homelands to have it done to them by their mothers, aunts, sisters and other female family members, and away from the ’evil’ westerners who would deny them this ’rite of passage’ of their female folk. WHY is it done? WHY do you ALLOW it to happen?
Are you one of those people that are so HORRIFIED and embarrassed by their religion, and the fact that they are so hopelessly snared within it, that you find it easy to accuse others of ’worshipping’ the truth?

zahra, why don’t you stop avoiding the TRUTH and just answer the question? Why is this practised in many muslim societies? I agree that j*ws practise male circumcision but the female equivalent in muslim societies is to cut off the entire p*nis.
Hey there Joe. let me get something out of the way and say that i’m a catholic taking a religion course and have a few books on Islam and am writing a term paper on it.
according to a couple of books, female circumcision is to keep a woman from being promiscuous before marriage and to promote monogamy after marriage. Judaism formed first with Moses’ teachings, then Christianity essentially split off with Jesus’ teachings. Then Islam was formed from Muhammad’s teachings. May all of them be blessed and rest in peace! While it is possible one of them got God’s words wrong or right, it is also possible that all three branches are mistaken!
While we may learn from their teachings, that is only a stepping stone for our spiritual growth. God, Yahweh, Allah gave us each a mind with which to think about His word and apply it to our lives. He came to this world through the mouths of men in different ways so that we may understand some aspect of His will. It is because humans are so stubborn that He has had to teach us the same lesson in different ways.

It is mankind who deemed it necessary to wear clothes, for when God created man and woman, he made them in nothing but their bare flesh. If we were truly meant to wear clothing, would God not make us in our mother’s wombs with a tiny set of clothes?

You know, brother, there is a big difference between culture and religion. Some people, regardless of religion, practice their baseless customs and pass it on as a practice. It is indeed shameful of what religious people are doing, inspite of their reiligion intructing them NOT to do so..Like christian(strict) people fornicating and having sexual intercourse before marriage, drinking, eating pork, etc...Muslims today are indeed doing what ISLAM has forbidden. That does not make religion wrong, it makes the person wrong.

I dont know anyone in my near or even distant and more than distant family members, and not even close and not so close friends where this act is praticed. There is no history of female circumcision practiced in ISLAM..there may be history of it being praticed in Muslims (not to forget some ignorants are present just about everywhere), but not in ISLAM..This is like Muslim women should wear Hijab but some dont...

As far as I’m concerned, Muslim women are obliged to wear their veils properly. It is their will and in their spirit to do such. Wearing veil is a SACRIFICE and a form JEHAD one must understand. Because woman’s body is seductive and can cause inattentiveness among the men performing Islamic practices, it is prohibited to the women to show their body naked or wearing only pieces of cloth.
Message to the Muslim women: One must be reminded that ZINA is one of the biggest sins in this world and by showing your flesh to the public can increase the temptation of the men to do the things in a wrong way. I really have to larf at this sort of sh1te. WHY do you believe it? You believe it because you have a need to ’belong’ as many do. A need to be part of a group with a common belief system, ie; a ”herd mentality” or part of the flock. Simple as that. You can chose to join this flock or that, but the objective is the same, period.
As a scientist myself, I tend to rely on a silly thing called PROOF. Sure we all have our theories, but they remain exactly that until we have the PROOF to show they are real. We theorised that we could fly, and worked on the problem until we came as close as we could to flying like birds. We ’assumed’ that the earth was flat and the center of the universe until we ’learned’ from our mistakes, developed the technology to test our hypotheses, and then gathered the data that we now have today. Please take a step back and remember your history dear, if you had said the earth orbited around the sun 300 yrs ago they would have burned you at the stake - similar to the type of brutal punishments in modern islam for going against the grain, ie; stoning to death of females for infidelity (seen it myself in a souk in saudi), chopping off of hands for common theft, hangings for unbelievers etc, etc.
Islam is a backward religion, locked away in a time that anyone with an inquisitive mind has forgotten. You are not allowed to ’question’ things in islam to any great extent, or they get fed up with it and put you to the torch or just shoot you.
They will always lure you in with their talk of love and understanding, but also remember dear just how many verses in the quran end with the proverbial ”the unbelievers will face a wall of fire!!!!” Too bad that they’ve sucked in what used to be proud and strong Canadian girls.
