A gruesome incident, which led to the death of a teen in north of Iraq created a widespread condemnation. It was able to gather attention of international media because of the footage.
Now authorities in the region have detained four people with regard to the inhuman deed of honor killing. It’s terribly distressing that the victim’s male family members murdered her. But not only that, a mob of men viewed this whole event as if it were entertainment, this is even more disgusting!
The case portrays the tragedy and brutality of honor killings in the Muslim world. Honor killings take place when family members kill relatives, almost always female, because they feel the relatives’ actions have shamed the family. And in here, the killing has been done in the name of religion by ’stoning till death’.
Death by stoning is slow and painful. Islamic code prescribes that ‘the stone should not be so big as to kill the offender with one or two stones’ and ‘nor should it be as small as pebbles’.
Two of the four arrested are members of the victim’s family, police in Nineveh province said Thursday. Four others, including a cousin thought to have instigated the killing, are being sought.
The Kurdistan government, who originally did nothing in reaction to this event, have now stated - after their dirty little secrets were exposed to the world via the internet - that these men will be punished. Hmm... we’ll see!

Id like to know why this case is mentioned so many times on this site even though the Yazidis are NOT muslim and muslims did not kill her.

Mecca-Saudi Arabia: 15 girls were burnt to death because they were unveiled
In Friday March 4, 15 pupils burnt to death in a girl’s school in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Members of Mutawwia’n, the religious police appeared at the main gate of the school and prevented 15 girls escaping the blazing school building without the Islamic dress; black clocks (Abaya) and head coverings that are mandatory for Saudi girls and women. They intentionally obstructed the efforts to evacuate the girls because they were unveiled. The religious police even hindered the firemen and other people to save the victims. This horrifying act is the natural outcome of the misogynist ruling Islamic system in Saudi Arabia. This is yet another indication of the anti human and sexist nature of religions particularly Islam. This is the fruit of God’s commandment; oppression and dehumanization of women, and the rule of sexual apartheid.
Religion is destructive and divisive, specifically in seeking and grabbing power; it turns to a lethal poison. The horrible past of Christianity and Islam and the recent history of political Islam are all evidence to this fact. In seeking power and holding it, it burns, kills, stones to death, spreads hatred and terrorism and creates bloodbaths. When religion comes to the scene, there will be no mercy. Political Islam has destroyed and continues to destroy the lives, hopes and dreams of three consecutive generations in Iran, Afghanistan and the Sudan in the last twenty plus years. It sheds blood and kills daily all around the world. Religion is indeed one of this era’s worst problems. Religion also has deeply wounded the Middle East, Northern Ireland, Central Asia, India, Indonesia and Kashmir. In doing so, religions serve the needs of the ruling capitalist system perfectly and completely.

Being an atheist myself, i cannot but agree with the above-mentioned thoughts. When religion goes beyond just guiding us on the path of morality, it becomes a weapon for selfish propagandists. History is replete with instances when GOD has been used against the masses.
Mass-propagation is a dangerous territory. Leave it to individual choice and I believe you will rarely have a problem with God, or vice-versa.
