If we ever thought that gender discrimination and domestic sexual violence is the only thing that the Saudi women has to put up to every day then we are surely mistaken.
According to a recent study conducted by the Dr. Zainab Abduljaleel and Haneyah Al-Sebaey from King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, the highest divorce rate is witnessed in the Eastern Region of the kingdom: and shockingly the number of divorce cases daily was reported to be 60 in numbers.
Right on the row next is Riyadh, with 50 cases daily: the reasons cited by the report mainly is misunderstanding, working wives, no mutual respect between spouses, two wives and many more.
However the root cause behind this increasing number of divorce case is the Internet and almost 65 percent of the marriages that are being arranged by the matchmakers fails.
What shocked me the most is the number that was reported in Jeddah? Out of 4,184 couples who got married last year, around 3,264 got divorced: where is the sanctity of the institution called marriage gone?
